Hank Plona will be returning to Indian Hills in Ottumwa, Ia., to be the next men's head basketball coach. Plona has worked under head coach Steve Green at South Plains College for four seasons.
HUTCHINSHON – The championship game fell into overtime, ending with an 83-80 loss for South Plains College to Northwest Florida State in the 2015 NJCAA National Championship game Saturday night.
HUTCHINSON – South Plains College punched their ticket to the final four after upsetting the top seed Connors State 81 - 65 in the 2015 NJCAA National Tournament on Thursday.
HUTCHINSON – Recently inducted National Hall of Fame coach from, Steve Green showed his coaching talents when he led his No.8 Texans over the No. 9 Vincennes University Trailblazers with an 80-68 win. Andre Spight played a large role leading the Texans with a total of 33 points and teammate Emmanuel Omogbo had 20 points for the Texans.
BROWNWOOD – Texans sweep the NJCAA Region V Tournament this weekend in Brownwood after defeating Howard College 72-63 in the championship game Saturday, March 7. South Plains will travel to Hutchinson, Kan., for the NJCAA National Men's Basketball Tournament March 16-20.
BROWNWOOD – The men's basketball Region V Tournament began March 5, in Brownwood between South Plains College, the No. 1 seed in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference and Temple College, the No. 4 seed in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.
BROWNWOOD – Advancing in the NJCAA Region V Tournament in Brownwood, the South Plains College Texans defeated a conference rival, New Mexico Junior College 76-58. This win places the Texans in the championship game tomorrow, March 7 at 4:30p.m.
ODESSA - Finishing their regular season in Odesaa, the No. 25 South Plains College Texans have a record of 23-6 overall and 13-3 in conference, after defeating the Odessa College Wranglers 80-69, Thursday night, which placed them in a tie for first in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with Howard College.
LEVELLAND - Midland College did not stand a chance against the No. 25 South Plains College Texans, Tuesday night Feb. 24. The Texans defeated the Chaparrals 98-67 at the last home game in the Texan Dome for this season's conference play.
The No. 22 Texans defeated Frank Phillips College 77-60, placing them in a tie with Howard College for the top seed in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.
LEVELLAND – The No. 17 NJCAA ranked South Plains Texans sent the Clarendon Bulldogs back to the "dog house", with their tails between their legs and a loss on their books of 89-51.
HOBBS, N.M. – The NJCAA 19th ranked South Plains College Texans could not quite match the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds Monday night, Feb. 9, falling by a single point in overtime.

LEVELLAND - South Plains College Texans slammed down on Odessa, Monday night, Jan. 26 in the Texan Dome. Sweeping the score over 100 points for a second game in a row, the Texans defeated the Wranglers 107-86.
MIDLAND, Texas – Rain, sleet, or snow could not slow down the Texans in Midland, Thursday night, Jan. 22. Sliding into play the Texans came and conquered the Chaps with a 101-73 win.
LEVELLAND – Five players from South Plains College put down double digits in the defeat over Frank Phillips College 88-75 Monday night, Jan. 19 in the Texan Dome.
LEVELLAND – South Plains Texans pulled away from New Mexico Military Institute Broncos to pick up 92-82 win in the Texan Dome, Jan. 15. Emmanuel Omogbo led the team with 26 points and 8 rebounds, while teammates Brandon Neel contributed 18 points and 5 rebounds and Andre Spight 14 points and 9 rebound
CLARENDON – South Plains College traveled home with split games Monday night from Clarendon College. The Texans (13-4, 3-1) pocketed a win over the Bulldogs; and the Lady Texans had a three-point fall to the Lady Bulldogs.
LEVELLAND, Texas – Numerous three pointers, fast breaks, and even a slam dunk by 23, Marlon Jones and 32, Lincoln Davis brought the crowd to their feet and the team off the bench in excitement to the tremendous game played by the South Plains Texans.
BIG SPRING, Texas – The South Plains College Texans traveled to face the Howard College Hawks, Jan 8. The game was close but the Hawks swooped in for the win, 78-73.
OTTUMWA, Iowa – The South Plains College Texan basketball team is taking a longer than normal road trip this weekend with a 950-mile trek to Ottumwa, Iowa where tough tests await the third-ranked team in the country.
LEVELLAND – David Kadiri recorded game highs of 32 points and 17 rebounds to lead five Texans scoring double figures as South Plains College rolled past Wayland Baptist University's JV squad 125-47 Saturday afternoon at the Texan Dome.
LEVELLAND – Pat Birt led all scorers with 17 points, Andre Spight added 15, and Pedro Konofino chipped in with 10 to help lead the third-ranked South Plains College Texans to a 69-49 victory over Coastal Bend College in their home opener Friday night at the Texan Dome.

PLANO, Texas – The third-ranked South Plains College Texans received double-digit scoring from three players but it was not enough as the Texans faded in the final minutes, falling in their showdown against the second-ranked team in the NJCAA, 77-65.
