LEVELLAND – South Plains College Texan basketball is scheduled to return to the Texan Dome Nov. 7-8 with the Texan Classic.  Teams scheduled to attend are Wayland Baptist JV, Coastal Bend, and WJCAC rival New Mexico JC.

The Texans (1-1) entered their schedule with a No. 3 ranking in the NJCAA preseason poll, though they suffered an early season loss to Trinity Valley in their last game played in Plano.  The Cardinals were voted No. 2 in the preseason poll so if the Texans can take care of business as the season moves on it is doubtful the defeat will cost them too much in the polls

There will be two games each day at the Texan Classic.  Friday, Nov. 7, will begin at 5 p.m. when No. 12-ranked New Mexico takes on Wayland JV.  South Plains College will follow at 7 p.m. with a tussle against Coastal Bend College.

The Thunderbirds of New Mexico JC will square off with Coastal Bend at 12 p.m. Saturday and the Texans will again follow at 2 p.m. versus Wayland Baptist.

Note:  Mesa Community College was scheduled to attend but canceled their trip.  Wayland Baptist JV replaces Mesa.
