Adding another victory improves South Plains to a 14-4 overall record and more importantly a 4-1 in conference play.

Starting off the game in slow climb with Lincoln Davis putting in the first two points for the Texans.

First period of the game was close in play but the Texans took a three-point difference between the Broncos and them going into the half.

The Texans were much stronger in the second half, increasing the lead on New Mexico Military Institute early.

With four minutes left in the second half the Texans took their biggest lead of 16 points for the night.

Texans will continue conference play Mon., Jan. 19, in the Texan Dome against Frank Phillips College (14-5, 3-2) at 7:45pm. Lady Texans take on Frank Phillips College as well, starting at 5:45pm.

Congratulations to Texan player Pat Birt who was the WJCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan.4 - Jan. 10.  Birt signed with University of Tulsa in the early signing period and will continue play there the next two years. The 6'5'' sophomore from Plano, scored 21 points against Howard, Jan. 8, and 34 points over NMJC, Jan. 10.
