South Plains (3-1) will face Marshalltown (4-1) 4:30 p.m. Friday before a rematch of last year's NJCAA Tournament quarterfinal with sixth-ranked Indian Hills at 7 p.m. Saturday night.

The Texans have already started a tough non-conference schedule with their lone loss this season coming at the hands of second-ranked Trinity Valley when they fell to the Cardinals 77-65 Nov. 2 in Plano.

"For junior college basketball, us going to Indian Hills and playing them, honest to God is like Kansas going to Duke," SPC head coach Steve Green recently told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.  "It's teams that every year are in the national picture, and it's kind of an intersectional game."

Green once again has a sophomore-laden team thanks to four returners and six transfers, four of which came from NCAA Division I schools.

The Warriors are undefeated through only two games this season, both blowout wins.  In their home opener Nov. 7, Indian Hills thrashed Lee College (TX) 140-109 and followed that with a 116-77 shellacking of Shawnee CC.

Through four games, South Plains is averaging 85 points per game and are led by Pat Birtand David Kadiri who both average just fewer than 14.  Last year's leading scorer, Andre Spight is chipping in with 11.

Sophomore Emmanuel Omogbo has yet to make his debut after spraining an ankle during a preseason scrimmage.  Omogbo starred for the Texans during last year's NJCAA Tournament, averaging 10 points and seven rebounds during three games including nine points and eight rebounds in SPC's heartbreaking 71-70 loss to Indian Hills in the quarterfinal.
