RANGER— The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texans rodeo teams competed in their second competition of the spring semester this past weekend at the Ranger College Rodeo in Ranger, Texas.

After finishing first a week ago in Odessa, the Lady Texans went on to place seventh out of the 16 total teams who competed. Shay Spitz, who finished first overall a week ago, was the Lady Texans lone point holder in the barrel racing event, finishing with 10 points for South Plains after running a long time of 17.77 and a final time of 22.92. West Texas A&M University took the top spot in the women's division with a final point total of 230, with Odessa College taking second with 185 points.

After being unable to place at the Odessa College Rodeo in week one, the Texans racked up 135 point over the weekend and finished 11th out of 16 total teams. Colton Hancock's long time of 4.5 was good enough for 80 points in the steer wrestling competition, while Cameron McCarley racked up 55 points in the tiedown roping competition after running a short time of 10.2 and a finals time of 10.8.

South Plains will be back in action on March 31st when they are set to travel to Western Texas College for the WTC Rodeo.
