LAKE CHARLES, LA — The No. 14 -ranked South Plains College women's basketball team fell to No. 1 Northwest Florida State College 73-47 Friday in their first contest at the LSU-Eunice New Years Classic.

SPC moves to 6-4 on the year and will be back on the floor on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Seward County Community College. The game will stream live at spctexans.com.

Raija Todd led South Plains on the offensive end, bucketing a team-high 13 points, knocking down 5 of 9 shots from the floor, and was 2 of 4 from distance. Celia Sumbane poured in 12 points, dropping in 3 of 6 shots from the floor, and was 2 of 3 from the 3-point line as SPC shot 33 percent from the floor and 31 percent from distance.
