No. 15 Lady Texans  blast Frank Phillips 70-47 Saturday in Borger

BORGER — Gabbie Green led all scorers with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Caroline Germond netted 11 points and a game-high nine assists as the No. 15 ranked South Plains College women's basketball team blasted Frank Phillips College 70-47 Saturday.

South Plains improves to 12-1 on the season and 2-0 in the WJCAC and will return to the hardwood on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. against Connors State. The game will be streaming live at spctexans.com and Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio Levelland will call the courtside action with pregame slated for 5:45. Following the contest, South Plains will take on Hill College on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.

Green knocked down 6 of 17 attempts from the floor and was 3 of 6 from the 3-point line in 33 minutes of action. Germond bucketed 5 of 11 attempts from the floor over 39 minutes while Ruth Koang recorded 10 points and five rebounds coming off the bench for South Plains.

Sophomore Chantel Govan chipped in seven points, seven steals and five assists for the Lady Texans while Sarah Shermatsi tallied six points and two assists as the Lady Texans shot 45 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from behind the arc.

South Plains forced 29 turnovers resulting in 33 points on the offensive end and scored 34 points indie the paint while also receiving 26 points off the bench. South Plains would go on to lead by as much as 25 in the fourth quarter as Frank Phillips (2-6, 0-2) shot just 31.6 percent from the field and were 6 of 26 from the 3-point line.

Trinity Ramirez led the Lady Plainsmen with 13 points on 5 of 19 shooting from the floor while Jordan Taylor recorded 11 points and three assists. Jazmin Rios netted six points and three rebounds for Frank Phillips while Ermisah Fields tallied five points and eight rebounds and Ayona Wilson bucketed three points, five rebounds, and four assists.
