LEVELLAND — The No. 15 ranked South Plains College women's basketball team eclipsed the century mark for the third time this season as five players recorded double-digit scoring figures en rout to a 106-23 dismantling of Lamar College Sunday at the Texan Dome.

With the win, South Plains improves to 10-1 on the year and will return to the hardwood on Wednesday when they open conference play against Midland at 5:45 p.m. on 'Meat the Texans' night. Wednesday's contest will be streaming live at spctexans.com and Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio Levelland will call the courtside action with pregame slated for 5:30 p.m.

"I'm really happy to see that we're playing true team basketball this early in the season," South Plains head coach Cayla Petree said. "Tonight we had five players over 15 points and had 16 assists on 39 baskets, and that shows we're sharing the ball. We're happy to have success early, but we know with our league as tough as it is we're going to have to continue to improve and we can't be complacent in our conference."

Sophomore Keke Hunter led the Lady Texans' offensive attack as the Hot Springs, Arkansas native scored 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting from the floor and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Hunter also hauled in five rebounds, dished out two assists and recorded a pair of blocked shots in 18 minutes of action for the Lady Texans.

Sarah Shematsi finished 8 of 13 from the field bucketing 17 points and grabbed eight boards over 25 minutes. Nyah Morris tallied 16 points thanks to four 3s in the contest to go along with six rebounds in 21 minutes of action. Caroline Germond recorded a game-high seven steals and was 6 of 13 from the field, totaling 15 points, four boards and four assists.

Sophomore Gabbie Green netted 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Oceane Robin chipped in nine points coming off the bench for South Plains, knocking down three of her five attempts from the floor. Chantel Govan recorded eight points, five steals, and two assists. South Plains shot 51.3 percent from the floor and dominated the glass, outrebounding the Lady Lopes (0-11) 44-20 inside.

South Plains forced 29 turnovers in the contest resulting in 47 turnovers on the offensive end as they held Lamar to just 8 of 45 shooting from the floor including a 2 of 20 mark from the 3-point line.
