BEEVILLE — The No. 15-ranked South Plains College women's basketball team set two program records Friday in a 136-39 drumming of Palo Alto College at the Coastal Bend College Classic.

136 points broke the previous school record of 122 points set against Phoenix College in 1990. The Lady Texans' 97-point margin of victory is also a new program record, breaking the previous 81-point victory margin set in 1978 against Sul Ross State University JV.  

Sophomore Keke Hunter continued her scoring tear as the 6-foot guard from Arkansas finished with a season-best 34 points to go along with 12 rebounds, two blocks, and seven assists. Hunter finished 13 of 16 from the floor and 8 of 10 from the charity stripe. Freshman Sarah Shematsi knocked down eight of 11 attempts from the field, chipping in 19 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals for the Lady Texans.

Sophomore Gabbie Green netted 19 points, bucketing 7 of 8 attempts from the floor including a pair of 3s. Caroline Germond scored in double figures for the second time in as many days, netting 13 points on 6 of 9 shooting while dishing out four assists and four steals.

South Plains' Nyah Morris, a 6-foot guard from Australia recorded a season-high 11 points to go along with three rebounds and a pair of assists. Romola Dominguez chipped in 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting and also tallied six steals and five assists.

South Plains(6-1) jumped out to a 26-5 lead after one quarter and scored a season-high 38 points in the second quarter while holding Palo Alto to just eight points in the second period. The Lady Texans continued to have their way in the second half as 10 Lady Texans found the bottom of the net including Morris who netted 11 in the back half of the contest.

South Plains will wrap up their road trip and look to push their win streak to four games when they tip off against San Antonio College at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
