Hunter and Germond combine for 52 points as No. 15 Lady Texans scorch Coastal Bend 96-62 Thursday

BEEVILLE — Four players scored in double figures as the No. 15-ranked South Plains College women's basketball team improved to 5-1 on Thursday evening with a 96-62 win over Coastal Bend College at the Coastal Bend College Classic.

The Lady Texans will look push their win streak to three games on Friday in a 1 p.m. matchup with Palo Alto College.

Sophomore Keke Hunter finished with a career-high 26 points including 14 in the second quarter as the 6-foot guard from Hot Springs, Arkansas scored in double figures for the fourth time this season. South Plains' Caroline Germond finished with a season-high 26 points, knocking down a trio of 3s netting 15 points before the break as the Lady Texans jumped out to a 50-21 at the half.

South Plains continued to find the bucket in the second half as Oceane Robin scored seven of her 14 points in the back half. Freshman Reilly Dunn finished with a season-high 10 points for South Plains scoring six in the final stint as the Lady Texans had six players score in the final 10 minutes.

Freshman Sarah Shematsi netted seven points in the contest while Romola Dominguez finished with six and Chantel Govan chipped in three points. 96 points marks a season-high in scoring for South Plains who is averaging 72.6 points per game and holding their opponents to just 49.2 points per game which ranks 13th best in the NJCAA.
