No. 16 Lady Texans host 8-1 Frank Phillips College 2 p.m. Saturday at the Texan Dome

LEVELLAND — The No. 16 ranked South Plains College women's basketball team returns to the Texan Dome on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff against WJCAC conference foe Frank Phillips College.

South Plains has won nine of its last 10 and will look to bounce back after dropping a 58-55 nail-biter against Midland on Wednesday in its conference opener at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center. Frank Phillips has won seven straight including a 75-65 victory over No. 10 Odessa College on Wednesday night.

A look back:

The Lady Texans swept the Lady Plainsmen a year ago picking up a 66-56 win on Dec. 3 at the Texan Dome followed by a 79-68 road win in Borger on Feb. 6. A win on Saturday will put the Lady Texans even at 1-1 in the WJCAC standings heading into the Christmas break.

Freshman Gabbie Green scored a team-high 15 points on 6 of 16 shooting to go along with three steals and three rebounds against Midland and Lubbock native Chelsea Hunter chipped in 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists in 38 minutes for the orange and blue.
