LEVELLAND— The South Plains College Lady Texans drummed Clarendon 92-48 to pick up their second conference win Monday night at the Texan Dome.

SPC (14-8, 2-4) came out with urgency in the first 10 minutes of the contest, jumping out to a 19-0 lead after knocking down eight of its first 14 shots from the field in the first quarter. The Lady Texans would continue the assault and outscored the Lady Bulldogs 20-12 over the next seven minutes, and took a 30-point, 45-15 lead into halftime.

"Just really pleased with out intensity throughout the game," South Plains head coach Cayla Petree said. "We've kind of struggled to put together 40 minutes the last couple of games, and so we had a really good week of practice and came out with some intensity, so that's always good to see."

The Lady Texans shot 59 percent from the field in the first half and and outrebounded the Lady Bulldogs 50-30 on the glass over the course of the game.

South Plains continued to push forward in the final two quarters and went on to lead by as much as 47 points in the second half. SPC forced 23 turnovers while holding Clarendon (5-17, 0-6) to a 29 percent shooting percentage over 40 minutes.

Ugochinyere Nwarie finished with a career-high 29 points and 13 rebounds for South Plains, while Elizabeth Cera chipped in 14 points and hauled in four rebounds. Dabraisia Baty racked up 14 points, fives assists and four rebounds for the Lady Texans, and Taylor Holley had 11 points and two rebounds.

"We just all felt the need to pick it up," Nwarie said. "I felt like as soon as my motor started going, it's game time. We can't look back. We're starting all over, and there's no looking back.

"It was weighing on me a lot. It's time to let them know, the Texans are ready. We have to pick it up in the second round of conference."

The Lady Texans will look to continue their winning ways when they host Western Texas College On January 25 at the Texan Dome, with tipoff set for 5:45 p.m.
