Lady Texans Fall To Odessa

Odessa— The South Plains College Lady Texans fell to the Odessa Lady Wranglers 70-63 in a conference road game Thursday night in Odessa.

South Plains' Elizabeth Cera led all scorers with 20 points while also hauling in four rebounds and two assists. Dabraisia Baty totaled 14 points and seven boards for the Lady Texans, while Ramiah Henry finished with 11 points and two boards.

Odessa's Shelby Richards scored 18 points and dished out five assists for the Lady Wranglers, and Lorena Hubbard totaled 16 points and nine boards for Odessa.

The Lady Texans controlled the floor and the momentum for the majority of the game, but despite leading by as much as 12 points in the second half, the Lady Wranglers went on a 25-9 run in the final ten minutes of regulation and walked out with the victory.

"I was really disappointed in our inability to come out and finish a full 40 minute game," South Plains head coach Cayla Petree said. "I thought we played well in the first three quarters, but our mental toughness and ability to make plays down the stretch have to get better. We just have to start picking it up on the defensive end as a team."

Now 13-6 on the season and 1-2 in conference play, the Lady Texans will look to bounce back and get in the win column Saturday afternoon when they host the New Mexico Junior College Lady Thunderbirds, with tipoff set for 2 p.m.
