THATCHER, Ariz. – The South Plains College Lady Texans will begin their 2014-15 season Friday when they tipoff the first of two games at the Eastern Arizona Classic in Thatcher, Ariz.

On Friday, the South Plains women will face host Eastern Arizona, followed by Chandler-Gilbert on Saturday.

Lady Texan head coach Michelle Wyatt is 2-2 against the Gila Monsters, defeating Eastern Arizona during the 2008-09 and 2012-13 season.  The Lady Texans dropped their season opener to Eastern Arizona last season, 70-64.

SPC looks to improve upon last season that saw the Lady Texans finish 16-12 overall, including 10-4 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) that resulted in a third place finish in league play.

The Lady Texans will look to an entirely new roster as they begin their season as they lost All-Conference performers Alexius Dawn, TaSheena Moore, and Jasmine Brainard to graduation.

South Plains' 2014-15 roster is made up of nine freshman and three sophomore transfers.

"Early on, there will be some adjustment for us," Wyatt recently told Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.  "Just for them to get figured out exactly how I want them to play.  I think we have a chance to be pretty good we can all buy in and accept our roles."

The Lady Texans are scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. MST tip Friday against Eastern Arizona and again at 1 p.m. MST Saturday.
