South Plains had defeated Western Texas back in December in double overtime 62-56. This put South Plains one-half game behind Frank Phillips for the fourth and final seat in the NJCAA Region V tournament.

Courtney Randle hit double digits against Western Texas for the Lady Texans putting in 16 points and 7 rebounds for the team.

Teammate Markelya Hicks put in nine points for the Lady Texans in just the last five minutes of the game that included two free throws that put South Plains within 55-52 with less than a minute to go.

The Lady Texans will be taking on Howard College, Feb. 5, in the Texan Dome at 5:45 p.m sponsored by Ameriprise Financial. Last time South Plains defeated Howard on the road with a 37-28 win.
