LEVELLAND – Lady Texan basketball players Shea Myatt and Stephanie Moore signed scholarships to continue their collegiate basketball careers during a ceremony Thursday afternoon in the T-Club lounge of the Texan Dome.

Myatt will attend Wayland Baptist University, while Moore will head out-of-state to Western New Mexico.

Moore said the atmosphere surrounding the team as well as the travel schedule were just two of the items that factored into her decision to choose Western New Mexico.

"We get to go to Alaska and Colorado and different places like that," the native of Anton said.

Familiarity attracted Myatt to Wayland Baptist as new Flying Queens coach Alesha Robertson served as Myatt's AAU coach.

"Alesha was my coach in AAU, so I already had a background with her and I really like her a lot," Myatt said.  "I know she will work hard to make the program better."

Myatt and Moore were both integral parts to improving a team that barely qualified for the Region 5 tournament their freshman years to tying for the conference championship in their sophomore campaigns.

Both earned all-conference honorable mention awards this season and Moore earned the same distinction as a freshman.  Myatt tied a school record for 3-point shots made in a game when she made 7-of-10 in a WJCAC matchup at Clarendon Jan. 31.
