Texans and Lady Texans well represented on all-conference list

LEVELLAND – The Texans and Lady Texans were well represented when the all-Conference and all-Region awards were announced earlier this month.  Five Lady Texans made the all-conference list; with two earning first-team honors and head coach Michelle Wyatt taking Coach of the Year honors.  Three Texans earned all-conference accolades, with Yanick Moreiraleading the way earning the Most Valuable Player award for the WJCAC.

Alexius Dawn and Tasheena Moore each made the first team for the WJCAC women.  Dawn started every game for the Lady Texans during the 2013 campaign, logging over 1,000 minutes during the season (34 mpg).  Playing in 30 games, Moore averaged a team high 13.1 points per game during the season.

 

Dawn and Moore will both return to lead the Lady Texans next season and were also named to the All-Region 5 team.

 

Sydney HearnStephanie Moore, and Shea Myatt each earned all-WJCAC honorable mention.

 

After guiding the Lady Texans to their first conference championship since 2008, head coachMichelle Wyatt was named WJCAC Coach of the Year.  The Lady Texans finished with a 25-6 record and advanced to the Region 5 semifinal game.

 

Moreira – who will play for the SMU Mustangs next season – was named MVP of the WJCAC after posting 18 points, nearly 10 rebounds, and 2.28 blocked shots per game.  Moreira was joined on the first team list by point guard Devonte Smith.

 

Freshman Ryan Martin was named all-conference honorable mention.

 

Moreira was the lone Texan to be named to the All-Region 5 team.
