SPC basketball hosts season finale Thursday at Texan Dome

LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan basketball teams will host their regular season finales tonight when they square off with Clarendon College at the Texan Dome.  Game time is 5:45 p.m. for the women and 7:45 p.m. for the men.

Six Lady Texan sophomores and four Texan sophomores will be honored as they are playing in their final games in the confines of the Texan Dome.

Both teams have plenty to play for as the Lady Texans still have a shot for a conference championship and the Texans will secure a spot in next month's Region 5 tournament with a win over the Bulldogs.

The Lady Texans need a win tonight and a Midland College loss to force a tie atop the league standings.  Because the Lady Texans split with Midland during the season, they would take the title because they will have earned more power points than the Lady Chaps.  If Midland defeats New Mexico tonight, the Lady Chaps will be the WJCAC Champions.

The Texans are currently in a tie with Midland for fourth place in the standings.  South Plains owns the head-to-head tie-breaker over the Chaps, but things could get tricky if the Texans and Midland both win their games tonight as that would put the teams in a three-way tie for third with New Mexico.  Under that scenario, New Mexico would be left out of the Region 5 tournament, unofficially.

Tonight's games will be broadcast live at www.spctexans.com as well as over the air on KLVT 1230 AM.  KLVT Radio's Michael Wiiest will call the courtside action.
