Lady Texan Guard Ashley Roberts signs to play for University of Texas

LEVELLAND, Texas - Lady Texan sophomore Ashley Roberts signed a National Letter of Intent Monday afternoon to continue her academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Texas and will become a member of the Lady Longhorns beginning this fall.

A two-year standout for the Lady Texans, Roberts led the Lady Texans in scoring in each of her two seasons at South Plains and led the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) this past season. Additionally, Roberts was named to the WJCAC All-Conference team two consecutive years as well as the 2012 WBCA JC/CC Coaches' Honorable Mention All-America Team.

"Ashley has had a great two years here. Obviously this season we did not have the type of season that our team was looking for, but from an individual standpoint she had a great year," said Lady Texan Head Coach Michelle Wyatt.

Roberts chose Texas over the University of Arkansas.

"I think it's a great accomplishment," Roberts said in regards to signing with Texas. "I'm real happy and ready to get there, ready to work hard."
