Leading 28-19 entering the second half of play, the Lady Westerners only scored three points in the first 14 minutes and did not record their first field goal until a Lady Westerner knocked down a 3-pointer with only 5:29 remaining in the game.

Counting that WTC field goal, the Lady Texans (6-16 overall) still had a 16 point cushion and would not give up another field goal until the final minute of play.

The Lady Texans led by as many as 21 points in the game.

Stephanie Moore had another strong game for South Plains, finishing with 12 points and eight rebounds. Kayla Turner and Raely Parada scored 12 and 10 points off the bench andSydney Hearn chipped in with eight points while also pulling down eight rebounds.

The victory puts the SPC women in sole possession of the No. 4 spot in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) standings with a 1 ½ game cushion on Howard and the Lady Westerners as the Lady Texans wrap up the first round of conference action.

The SPC women will take the court again Thursday, February 9 when they celebrate Homecoming with a 5:45 p.m. tip against Midland College. The Lady Texans are also encouraging fans to 'Pack the Dome' to help them defeat the Lady Chaps.
