Best Western South Plains Inns and Suites is the sponsor of Monday's games and have donated t-shirts that will be thrown to the crowd by the Texan Cheerleaders as well as two iPods that will be given to a lucky fan at each halftime. Tickets for the game can be picked up at Best Western located at 204 N. College Avenue in Levelland.

Playing in their first game as the No. 1 ranked team in all of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the South Plains College Texans (19-0, 4-0 WJCAC) survived against New Mexico last Thursday thanks to a buzzer beating 3-point basket by Marshall Henderson in overtime and will square off with a Howard team fresh off a 91-88 overtime victory over eighth-ranked Odessa College to setup yet another interesting conference showdown.

The SPC men lead the WJCAC in scoring with an average of 85 points per game, while the Hawks sit at the bottom of the conference in that category scoring only 71 per contest. 

Coming off a 32 point performance against New Mexico, Henderson ranks No. 2 in the WJCAC in scoring with a little more than 19 points per game to lead three Texans averaging double-digits. The Hawks also have three scorers, led by Jacob Thomas with 15 per game.

SPC's 12th year head coach Steve Green has a 13-13 overall record against the Hawks as coach of the Texans and will be looking to help his team snap a four game losing streak as the Texans have not defeated Howard since sweeping both games during the 2008-09 season. 

The Lady Texans (4-16, 1-3 WJCAC), meanwhile, desperately look to right the ship after being defeated by 22 points at New Mexico, 63-41, against a solid Howard team that has the top scoring defense in the conference allowing only 44 points per game. The Lady Hawks (14-5, 1-1) Thursday night game against Odessa was rescheduled for Friday due to the officials not showing up.

Head Coach Michelle Wyatt has absolutely dominated Howard during her tenure at South Plains, posting a 13-2 record. The Lady Texans split with the Lady Hawks last season.
