Lady Texan basketball struggles against New Mexico, falling 73-53

HOBBS, N.M. - The South Plains College Lady Texan basketball team completed the fall portion of their 2011-12 season Saturday afternoon with a 73-53 loss to New Mexico JC to finish sixth in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) pre-conference tournament.

Freshman Kayla Turner led all scorers with 20-points, making 9-of-19 shots from the field and also pulling down five rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Roberts added 15.

The Lady Texans (2-10) will now enjoy some time off for the Christmas holidays before resuming their season January 5 at Scottsdale Community College. Conference action is scheduled to begin January 16 at Odessa.
