A Dimmitt, Texas native, Myatt made 7-of-23 shots from the field while playing every minute of the game right along with teammate Ashley Roberts who scored 16 points in 40 minutes.Kayla Turner chipped in with eight points and eight boards for the Lady Texans who outrebounded their opponent 47-35, including 22-4 on the offensive end.
The Lady Texans (1-8) put themselves in an early hole by not posting a score until nearly six minutes into the contest when Shea Myatt hit a jumper to halt Collin's 13-0 run to begin the game. By halftime the Lady Texans were within six, 30-24.
Unfortunately Collin (4-5) again came out by scoring 14 of the first 16 points to begin the second half to take control of the ballgame. The closest SPC would get for the remainder of the game was 11 points with 3:38 remaining as South Plains would fall 67-52.
The SPC women will return to the hardwood on December 1 when they open the first round of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) pre-conference tournament against Western Texas College in Hobbs, N.M.
