LEVELLAND, Texas - In an attempt to raise money to fight breast cancer, the South Plains College athletic department teamed up with Covenant Hospital of Levelland and raffled off a trip for two to Las Vegas at halftime of the Lady Texans February 17 victory over Frank Phillips College. Dr. Ifan Knotts, a Spanish teacher at the Reese Center won the trip.
Covenant Hospital will use the raised funds to help provide mammograms for qualifying women living within Hockley County.
A mammogram is a low-dose, non-invasive X-ray used to examine and search for breast tissue irregularities. The American Cancer Society recommends a screening mammogram every one to two years for women, beginning at age 40. This is important due to the fact that successful treatment is often linked to early detection
