Tip-off is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. for the Lady Texans and 7:45 p.m. for the Texans. Employees of South Plains College are eligible to register for a chance to win a $100 cash giveaway, courtesy of Mike Mamantov and Ameriprise Financial.
The Lady Texans (18-8, 7-4) are coming off an 87-63 non-conference victory over Clarendon College and have secured a spot in next month's Region 5 tournament by way of Howard College's Monday night loss to Odessa College. A victory over New Mexico Junior College (20-8, 6-5) on Thursday night would send the Lady Texans to the regional tournament as the No. 3 seed from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC). A loss would likely make South Plains the No. 4 seed.
The men's game will feature a contest in which both teams have everything to play for. South Plains (16-12, 5-8) is one game behind New Mexico (19-8, 6-7) for the fourth and final spot from the WJCAC. A Texan victory over the Thunderbirds would force a tie in the standings and South Plains College owns the tie breaker by way of their January 20 victory over Odessa College, currently the WJCAC No. 3 seed.
