Texans and Lady Texans ‘Thinking Pink' Thursday, February 17
LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Texans and Lady Texans will host Frank Phillips College at the Texan Dome Thursday, February 17 in their annual 'Think Pink' game. Fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink to help promote breast cancer awareness. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. for the Lady Texans and 7:45 p.m. for the Texans.

In an attempt to raise money for the cause, the South Plains College department of athletics will have raffle tickets available at the front entrance of the Texan Dome for a chance to win a two night trip for two adults to Las Vegas. Tickets are $2 each, or three for $5. For more information on entering the raffle, please call 806-716-2221.

All proceeds will help provide qualifying women in Hockley County obtain a screening mammogram at Covenant Hospital of Levelland.

Former Lady Raider head basketball coach Marsha Sharp will be in attendance for both men's and women's games, and will draw the winning raffle ticket for the Las Vegas trip at halftime of the Texan game.

The Lady Texans (16-8, 6-4), who will warm up in pink t-shirts for the 'Think Pink' event, are looking to bounce back from a 63-59 loss to Odessa on Monday night and currently sit in third place within the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) standings. Frank Phillips (4-22, 0-9), meanwhile, is still searching for their first conference victory. South Plains won their January 24 meeting against the Lady Plainsmen by the score of 71-63.

The Texans (14-12, 3-8) look to snap a five game losing streak and climb back into the hunt for a berth to next month's Region 5 tournament. With only three conference games remaining, time is running out for South Plains who find themselves tied with Frank Phillips (11-16, 3-8) for sixth place. The Plainsmen won the last meeting between the teams when they defeated the Texans 84-80 on January 24 in Borger.

South Plains and Frank Phillips both trail New Mexico JC (18-7, 5-6) for the fourth and final spot. Western Texas (18-8, 4-7) is also ahead of them in fifth place.
