Both the Texans and Lady Texans enter Thursday's games coming off conference losses to Midland College.
The Lady Texans (15-7, 5-3) were tied with the Lady Chaps (21-5, 6-2) for first place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) until their 74-61 loss on Monday night in Midland. The SPC women are still in great shape as they sit in a tie for third place with Howard College (19-6, 5-3), only ½ game behind Odessa College (15-9, 5-2). Western Texas enters Thursday's contest with a conference record of 2-6 and are 12-14 overall.
Meanwhile, the SPC Texans (14-10, 3-6) have some ground to make up if they hope to qualify for next month's Region 5 tournament as they are two games out of the final qualifying spot behind New Mexico JC (18-5, 5-4).
South Plains College defeated the Westerners (16-8, 2-7) 66-58 in Snyder when the two teams last tangled on January 17. After winning two of their next three games, however, South Plains College has dropped three in a row as they enter Thursday's contest.
SPC TV will provide a live video broadcast of both games Thursday and can be accessed by tuning in to NTS channel 63 or www.spctexans.com. HPRN's Michael Wiiest will call the courtside action for KLVT 1230 AM and www.hprnetwork.com.
