The Lady Texans (15-6, 5-2) are riding a red hot six game winning streak into tonight's matchup that has first place within the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) on the line. Currently, South Plains is in a three way tie for first with Midland (20-5, 5-2) and Odessa (15-9, 5-2).

During their six game winning streak that began with a victory over Western Texas College on January 17, the Lady Texans have averaged 75 points per game, while holding their opponents to only 60. During that stretch, the SPC women have had four players average in double figures, led by Ashley Roberts (17.7), Kelsey Canavan (16.3), Lauren McKinney(15.8), and Toi'Easha Cooper (10.0). Canavan has recorded a double-double in every game, averaging 14.2 rebounds during the winning streak.

The Texans (14-9, 3-5), have dropped two games in a row and are desperate for a win to climb back into contention for a berth to next month's Region 5 tournament. Standing in their way are the WJCAC leading Chaps (22-2, 8-0), a team averaging 84 points per game with only two players averaging 10 or more points per game.

In their last meeting, South Plains rallied from a large deficit to get to within four points at the 1:00 mark before eventually falling 68-60.

After Midland, the Texans and Lady Texans will return to the Texan Dome to take on Western Texas College Thursday, February 10 on Holiday Inn Express night. Game times are 5:45 p.m. for the women and 7:45 p.m. for the men.
