SPC takes on Howard College in Homecoming game

LEVELLAND, Texas - The South Plains College Texans and Lady Texans are set to take on Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) foe Howard College on Thursday night as SPC celebrates Homecoming week. HPRN's Michael Wiiest will call the courtside action for KLVT 1230 AM, while the crew from SPC TV will provide a live video stream accessible at www.spctexans.com. Women's action begins at 5:45 p.m., while the men tip-off at 7:45 p.m.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. for fans who attend the game.  An adult ticket is only $4.

Coach Michelle Wyatt's Lady Texans (14-6, 4-2) are riding a five game winning streak and find themselves sitting in a five-way tie atop the conference standings along with Howard, Midland, New Mexico, and Odessa. A victory over the Lady Hawks (18-5, 4-2), who got the better of the Lady Texans in the January 10th conference opener, would help solidify the Lady Texans as one of the top teams in the WJCAC.

The Texans (14-8, 3-4) enter Thursday's game against the defending NJCAA champion Hawks (15-6, 5-2) in fifth place in the conference standings. The Texans will look to avenge a 73-63 loss to Howard on January 10th, a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate.

In recognition of homecoming, students, faculty and staff who are wearing their school colors can stop by the Student Activities Center between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for a popcorn social. The crowning of the homecoming king and queen will take place at halftime of the women's game, while halftime of the men's game will feature contests and giveaways.
