COOLIDGE, Ariz. - The South Plains College Lady Texans lost for only the fourth time of the 2008-2009 season Friday night, losing to Central Arizona 82-71. The loss brings South Plains record to 15-3.
Taniqua Ards had a big scoring night, leading the Lady Texans with 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Ards also hit 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Also scoring in double figures for the Lady Texans were Sajoyia Griffin and Tasheena Byrd. Griffing scored 19 points and also had a game high seven assists. Byrd added 12 points in 27 minutes of play. Also for SPC, Rachel Gray scored eight points and added a team high nine rebounds, and Dayon Hall-Jones added six points.
The Lady Texans return to Western Junior College Athletic Association play on January 8 when they travel to Clarendon College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be aired live on 1230 AM KLVT.
