
LEVELLAND - The South Plains College Texans placed four runners in the top 10 and cruised to a 10-point victory at the SPC/Subway Cross Country Festival Saturday morning. Tallam Kipruto took the individual championship, completing the 8,000-meter course in 23:55.00, outdistancing second place by 14 seconds.
Anthony Pequeno was the second Texan across the line, finishing fourth overall in 24:25.66, followed by Mitchell Driver (24:29.86) in sixth place. Robert Castanon (25:10.21) was eighth and Tomilee Lloyd (25:47.25) rounded out the Texan top five with a 16th place finish. Also competing for the Texans were Marcelis Lynch (26:39.13) and Josh Harris (28:43.97) who finished 25th and 36th, respectively.
The Lady Texans, led by Lisa Forsberg, finished second in the overall team standings with 63-points. Forsberg finished second overall in the race, completing the 5,000-meter course in 17:51.55. Kadian Dunkley (18:40.60), SPC's second finisher, crossed the line in tenth place, followed by Crystal Dickinson (18:56.53) and Shayla Contreras (18:59.68) in 15th and 16th. Paulina Wilson (20:21.56) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Texans with a 27th place finish. Paulina Engfoors (20:46.60) and Shakeeri Cole also competed for SPC, finishing 33rd and 37th.
The Texans and Lady Texans will travel to San Angelo on Tuesday, October 13th to compete in the Angelo State Cross Country Classic.
