AUSTIN— After racking up 30 NJCAA national qualifying marks in week one of the Outdoor season in El Paso, the South Plains College track and field teams were back in action this weekend at the 2016 Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Meyers Stadium in Austin, Texas.

SPC held its own against a plethora of elite division one schools from across the country, finishing in the top five across the board. Fabian Edoki continues to emerge as one of the top triple jumpers in the country, as the Freshman from Nigeria soared 51' 7.25" to take first place, and currently holds the top position in the NJCAA.

Kelvin Keter continues to be as weapon for the Texans in the men's 1500 meters, as his final time of 3:51.56 was good enough for second place. Hassan Abdi showed no signs of slowing down this weekend, as the Sophomore from Amarillo posted a time of 14:31.13 in the men's 5000 meters, good enough for third place overall.

Okeen Williams impressed in the men's 100 hurdles, as the freshman placed fifth overall with a final time of 52.59. Adrian Williams was in prime form for South Plains in the men's Javelin, finishing with a final throw of 219' 8", good enough for second place overall. Freshman Gabe Moore continued his dominance in the men's decathlon competition, finishing seventh overall with a final point total of 7039, which currently sits as the top score in the NJCAA.

In the women's 4x400 relays, the Lady Texans relay team comprised of Medinah Spencer, Mauricia Prieto, Saqukine Cameron and Deja Harrison hit an NJCAA national qualifying mark with a final time of 3:47.86, which was good enough for 11th place. Spencer also landed a national qualifying mark for the Lady Texans in the 400 hurdles, finishing with a final time of 1:00.44

With a combined 61 NJCAA national qualifying marks under their belts, the SPC track and field teams will be back in action this weekend as they are set to travel to San Angelo State University for the David Noble ASU Relays beginning on April 7.
