South Plains Rodeo rides to top finishes at Ranger College Rodeo

The South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams impressed over the weekend in their second appearance of the spring season at the Ranger College Rodeo.

Jhett Trenary got things rolling for the Texans with a fourth place finish in the tiedown roping competition after finishing with a final point total of 70 points. Trenary ran a 9.1 in the long round and a 10.6 in the short round to earn a top five mark for South Plains.

Cameron McCarley took first in the steer wrestling event for the Texans with his final total of 155 points. McCarley used a time of 4.4 in the long round and a 7.2 in the short round to take first overall. Chase Wilson wasn't far behind with his final tally of 110 points. Wilson earned a second place finish after running a long round time of 6.1 and a short time of 5.6.

Megan Burbidge tied for sixth in the goat tying event for the Lady Texans after her long round time of 7.7 and short round time of 11.6, finishing with a final total of 30 points. Rainy Robinson continues to solidify her claim as one of the top barrel racers in the country with her second place finish over the weekend. Robinson tallied up 140 points after running a long round time of 17.61 followed by a short round time of 17.55.

Alex Odle also placed inside the top five for the Lady Texans after her long time of 17.65 followed by a short round time of 17.71, finishing with 100 points and a fourth place finish. South Plains will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Snyder, Texas for the Western Texas College Rodeo, followed by a trip to Big Spring on April 6 at the Howard College Rodeo.
