Texans, Lady Texans rodeo finish inside top 10 at Clarendon

CLARENDON, Texas—The South Plains College Texan and Lady Texan rodeo teams each finished inside the top 10 over the weekend at the Clarendon College rodeo.

The Lady Texans finished seventh overall with 35 total team points, while the Texans took ninth with 95 total points. Sophomore Rainy Robinson finished seventh overall in the women's goat tying competition with 35 points. Alex Odle went on to place fourth overall in women's barrel racing, finishing the night with 65 individual points.

Chet Boren continues to emerge as one of the top steer wrestlers in the region, as the Vernal, Utah native took third and finished with 95 team points for the Texans.

"We didn't do much with our team stuff this week, but we are going to keep plugging along," South Plains head coach Kerry Doster said. "We go to Texas Tech in two weeks, and I'd like to see strong performances out of our calf ropers and our team ropers.

"Our bull doggers need to keep being strong, and our barrel racers need to just keep doing what they're doing, and they've been doing really good this year. We kind of struggled a little bit this weekend in breakaway roping, so we need to pick it up a little bit there."

Both teams will be back in action on Thurs. Oct. 27 in Lubbock when they compete at the Texas Tech University rodeo.
