Vernon— The South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams concluded their third event this past weekend at Vernon College.

The women's team, led by Shay Spitz, Rainy Robinson, Kortney McReynolds and Kara Burns brought home a third place finish after racking up 187.5 total points.
 
Spitz led the way with 135 total points for the Texans, while Robinson totaled 30 points, and McReynolds finished with 22.5
 
Spitz had a long run time of 17.19 in the barrel racing event, and a short run time of 17.11, giving her 45 total points. Robinson recorded a time of 17.33 in the long run, and finished with a short run time of 17.28, giving her 30 points in the barrel racing event.
In the goat tying even, Teryn Le Tate and McReynolds each had a long run time of 7.8, giving both contestants 2.5 points. Tate ran a short run time of 8.6, while McReynolds had a time of 9.2, earning the Texans a combined 30 points.
 
In the breakaway roping event, Spitz finished with 20 points after earning a long run time of 2.9.
 
The men's team was unable to place at the event, but will have another opportunity to do so when both teams travel to Frank Phillips College in Perryton, Texas this upcoming weekend.
