#2 Odessa edges #10 South Plains 55-47 Saturday

Levelland — The No. 10-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team fell to No. 2 Odessa 55-47 Saturday at the Texan Dome.

The Texans move to 17-4 on the year and 5-2 in the WJCAC and will be back on the floor Monday when they host Midland at 7:30 p.m. at the Dome. Admission to the game is free, and the contest will stream live at spctexans.com.

Odessa jumped out to a 12-point lead at the midway point and was led by Dontrell Hewlett and Kiree Huie, who combined for 20 points in the contest. The Wranglers shot 32.8 percent from the field and 3-for-24 from the 3-point line in the contest.

Malek Abdelgowad led South Plains on the offensive end with 16 points and nine boards, while Christian Coleman finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Jaden Harris netted 10 points over 38 minutes as the Texans shot 35.4 percent from the field and were 2 of 13 from distance.
