CHANDLER, AZ — The South Plains College men's basketball team closed out a four-game road stint out West with a 74-63 victory over Chandler-Gilbert Community College Thursday afternoon at Coyote Gymnasium.
The Texans finished 3-1 in Arizona, improving to 7-6 on the season after defeating Midland College, New Mexico Junior College, and Chandler-Gilbert. Thursday's contest closes out the non-conference portion of the schedule for SPC, who will jump back into conference play when they host Howard College on Jan. 6 at the Texan Dome.
DJ Avery led SPC on the offensive end against the Coyotes, scoring a season-high 19 points, pouring in 13 points in the second half. Kieves Turner totaled 15 points for South Plains, all coming in the final 20 minutes, while Jaden Harris netted nine points and Savion Gallion finished with seven points.
