LEVELLAND — The top-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team fell to No. 15 Odessa College 65-64 in overtime Monday at the Texan Dome after erasing a six-point deficit in the final seconds of regulation.

Trailing 56-50 with under a minute left, South Plains' Koray Gilbert connected from the perimeter and trimmed Odessa's lead to three with 32 ticks to play. Following a foul on the Texans' Jonah Antonio, James Reese dropped in a pair of free throws that put the Wranglers up 58-53 with 24 seconds to go.

South Plains would hit from behind the arc again as Deon Barett dropped in a trey from the top of the key with 13 seconds left, bringing the Texans within two, 58-56. Christian Wilson immediately fouled Odessa's Adrean Johnson on the next possession, who missed the front end of the one-and-one, giving the Texans a chance to tie or take the lead with 12 seconds remaining.

Following a timeout from head coach Steve Green, South Plains dropped the ball down low to Gaige Prim who floated a turnaround hook shot into the bottom of the net to tie the game at 58 apiece and send the game into extra time.

South Plains opened the overtime period with a 4-0 run as Antonio knocked down a 3-ball to give the Texans a 62-58 advantage. Odessa would answer back and tie the game at 62 on an Anthony Johnson triple with 2:20 to go. Following a pair of Prim' free throws that put South Plains up two with under 30 seconds left, Adrean Johnson put in a layup while drawing a foul, hitting the free throw to complete the three-point play, putting Odessa up 65-64 with under 20 seconds remaining.

Prim led all scorers with 24 points and 13 rebounds while Dejour Joseph totaled 12 points for the Texans. Antonio and Barett each had nine points as South Plains (17-3, 6-2) shot 41 percent from the floor and 39 percent from long range.

Adrean Johnson netted 21 points and four rebounds for the Wranglers (17-5, 6-2) while Reese provided 11 points off the bench and Daniels chipped nine points. Odessa shot 39 percent from the floor and 24 percent from the 3-point line as nine players scored in the contest.

South Plains will look to get back in the win column on Thursday night when they travel to Midland for a 7:30 p.m. tip at the Chaparral Center. The game will be streaming live at spctexans.com and Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio Levelland will call the courtside action.
