No. 2 South Plains improves to 8-0, drills Cowley County 97-68 Saturday in Dallas

DALLAS, TX —  The second-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team improved to 8-0 on Saturday with a 97-68 drumming of Cowley County at the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic.

South Plains will return to the hardwood on Wednesday when they open conference play against Midland at 7:30 p.m. on 'Meat the Texans' night at the Texan Dome. Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio Levelland will call the courtside action and the game will be streaming live at spctexans.com with pregame slated for 7:15 p.m.

Gaige Prim led the Texans in scoring once again, recording his eighth consecutive game in double figures, netting 22 points including 14 in the opening stint. Sophomore sharpshooter Jonah Antonio recorded a season-high 20 points, knocking down four 3s including three in the first half.

Sophomore Chris Orlina chipped in 17 points, 13 coming in the final 20 minutes, while Trey Wade tallied 12 points and Deon Barett netted 10 points including a trio of 3s. Jamar Ergas finished with five points for the Texans while Charles Jennings netted four and Christian Wilson scored three points.

South Plains has averaged 88.3 points per game in their last three outings and are averaging 89.7 points per game on the year and shooting 46.4 percent from the field. South Plains continues to find success on the glass as they are averaging 43.3 rebounds per game leading to second-chance looks on the offensive end.
