No. 2 South Plains pummels Dodge City 108-69 Saturday in Liberal

LIBERAL, KS — The second-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team shot a season-high 54 percent from the floor as they improved to 4-0 on the year with a 108-69 pummeling of Dodge City Community College Saturday at the Greenhouse.

South Plains finished 41 of 75 from the field and knocked down a season-best 17 3s in the contest. The Texans dominated on the glass as they outrebounded Dodge City 52-30 leading to 38 points inside the paint and scored 20 points on 15 forced turnovers.

Deon Barett scored a season-high 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the field including a 4-for-5 mark from the 3-point line in 19 minutes of action. Sophomore big man Gaige Prim recorded his fourth double-double of the year netting 17 points to go along with 13 boards. Prim knocked down six of his 10 attempts from the field and finished with a season-high five blocked shots.

Sophomore sharpshooter Jonah Antonio tallied 17 points over 27 minutes, bucketing 7 of 10 attempts from the field and was 3 of 5 from behind the arc. South Plains' Dajour Joseph netted 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting while Christian Wilson finished with eight and Trey Wade bucketed seven.

South Plains will return to the hardwood next weekend when they make their home debut at the Texan Classic Nov. 16-17 at the Texan Dome. South Plains will square off with North Lake College at 7 p.m. on Nov. 16 followed by a matchup with Coastal Bend College on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. Both games will be streaming live at spctexans.com.
