Texans fall to Seminole State 84-77 on Friday in Plano

PLANO — The No. 3 ranked South Plains College men's basketball team fell to Seminole State College 84-77 on Friday at Cougar Hall at the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic.

"We're looking for solutions to some things we are not accustomed to around here," said South Pains head coach Steve Green following Friday's loss.

The Texans led 45-43 at the midway point and would go on to lead by as much as 14 in the second half. The Trojans found their stroke midway through the final stint as they improved to 8-2 on the year with the win.

Darnell Butler led all scorers with 32 points including 14 in the final 20 minutes. Marcus Blackwell totaled 16 points for the Trojans while Cameron Kennedy finished with 10 and Aaron Givens chipped in eight.

Sophomore Jordan Brangers netted seven 3s and led the Texans in scoring with 23 points including 15 in the second half. Keith McGee finished with a career-high 11 points including a trio of 3-pointers for the orange and blue. Chris Orlina chipped in 10 points for South Plains and Isaiah Maurice scored eight and Marcel Thompson pitched in with six points.

South Plains(4-3) will look to bounce back on Saturday when they matchup with Murray State at 4 p.m. at Cougar Hall. The game will be streaming live at spctexans.com.
