Texans Look To Stay Hot In Odessa

Now on a nine game win streak following a 3-0 performance in Arizona on December 28-30 where the Texans captured the 2015 Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout, the South Plains College Texans will travel to Odessa on January 7 for a matchup with #23 nationally ranked Odessa College, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.

Sitting at 11-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play, the Texans picked up wins against #25 Williston State, Baltimore City Community College and Big Bend while in Arizona to continue their momentum before jumping back into WJCAC play.

The Texans' Deontae North was named the Fiesta Bowl Tournament's most valuable player after racking up 22 points against Big Bend, and 16 points against Williston State and Baltimore City. Roberto Gallinat was also named to the All-Tournament team after scoring 14 points and hauling in seven rebounds in the championship game, while Michael Wolfe and Ibrahima Diagne combined for a total 17 points and nine boards for the Texans.

Following Saturday's matchup, the Texans will host Veterans' Appreciation Day on January 9 when they take on New Mexico Junior College at 3:45 p.m. The Thunderbirds have won five of their last seven games and are averaging just over 79 points-per-game on the season, and will prove to be another major test for this Texans team.

All current and former veterans are encouraged to contact the South Plains College athletics office for free tickets to Saturday's games, or come to the Texan Dome prior to tipoff to pick up tickets and enjoy the games. You can reach the SPC athletic office at 806-716-2221.
