Texans Win Sixth Straight

Borger— The South Plains college Texans picked up their sixth consecutive win on Saturday downing Frank Phillips 83-79 in overtime.

The Texans shot 56% from the field against the Plainsmen and had four players score in double figures. Sophomore guard Deontae North led the Texas in scoring once again with 14 points and also hauled in six rebounds.

Montell McRae went 4-6 from the field and finished with 12 points for the Texans, while Diamante Langston racked up 11 points and a team high five assists. Che Bob had 10 points and five boards for SPC, and Michael Wolfe finished with seven points and three blocked shots.

Despite 11 lead changes over the course of the first 40 minutes, the Texans outscored Frank Phillips 11-7 in the overtime period, improving their record to 8-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

The Texans will now take three weeks off over the Christmas holidays before traveling to Mesa, Arizona where they will take part in the Fiesta Bowl Tournament beginning on December 28.
