Texans Shoot Lights Out

Levelland—The South Plains College Texans picked up their second win in as many days, shooting over 65% from the field en route to a 105-53 scraping of Wayland Baptist Saturday at the Texan Dome.

South Plains' Ibrahima Diagne led all scorers with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Deontae North had 12 points for the Texans. Montell McRae and Jerron Love each scored 11 points for SPC, while Taelin Webb had nine points and four assists.

The Texans came out guns blazing in the first half, knocking down their first six three pointers attempted and went 9-9 from the field to start the game. South Plains shot over 75% from the floor in the first 20 minutes and went 12-17 from long distance in the first half.

The second half resembled much of the first, as the Texans continued to shoot lights out over the final 20 minutes, going 18-33 in the final frame. Diamante Langston and Webb facilitated the Texans offense to perfection as the two combined for 15 assists in the contest.

"When I first came out I struggled a little bit, but I've been in the gym everyday watching film just trying to get better," Webb Said. "I'm just trying to make my guys better and put them in spots where they have the best opportunity to score, and I feel if I can do that we will have the best possible opportunity to win.

"Everybody on this team is working, and nobody sees the hours that we put in to try and get better. It all starts with confidence, and once we can get a shot to fall everyone seems to play better. Whatever it takes to get better in the gym, if it's coming in here three times a day, we're just trying to keep getting better everyday."

South Plains will look to stay on track when they travel to Collin County on November 27 for the Thanksgiving Classic.
