Texans Rout Collin County Behind North's 18 Points

Levelland— The South Plains College Texans downed Collin County 81-68 Friday night at the Texan Dome behind Deontae North's 18 points.

SPC had four players in double figures, including Roberto Gallinat who finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while Diamante Langston had 13 points and four assists. Michael Wolfe racked up 11 points and six board for the Texans, while Justice Green and Taelin Webb each had six.

South Plains led by as much as 15 in the first half as they shot over 57% from the field in the first 20 minutes, including going 8-12 from three. Gallinat finished with 11 points in the first 20 minutes, giving the Texans all the momentum heading into the second frame.

"We shared the ball better tonight and we weren't so one dimensional," South Plains head coach Steve Green said. "I thought Taelin Webb came in and and really gave us a spark that we have not had so far this season. We knew they were going to be in a zone which we've had trouble so far with this year, and I think when we were able to move the ball better tonight.

"I think the guys feel better, and we have about a week to get ready. We will play these guys again there, and we have some time to work on a few things. Taelin has been hurt all year long, and we can work him into the lineup more. "

The second half saw much of the same from the Texans as SPC went on a 13-3 run to open up the second half. The Texans pushed their lead to as much as 30 points in the second half, shooting over 49% from the field in the contest.

The Texans will have a chance to put back-to-back wins together for the firs time this season when they square off with Wayland Baptist at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Texan Dome.
