2014-15 Roster 2014-15 Schedule
This marks the second consecutive year the Texans were picked to win. Last season, the Texans lived up to the preseason expectations as they led the conference wire-to-wire on their way to earning their 12th conference title in school history.
South Plains earned seven-of-eight possible first place votes and 63 points, followed closely by New Mexico JC who had two first place votes and 58 points.
Howard (48 points) and Odessa (41 points) rounded out the schools voted in the top four.
The Texans return four players from a team that advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA National Tournament a season ago, led by Andre Spight and Emmanuel Omogbo.
Playing in each of South Plains' 35 games, Spight led the Texans in scoring last season at 16 points per game and scored a season high 26 points twice.
Omogbo will be expected to provide numbers for the Texans after averaging 10 points and seven rebounds during the Texans three-game run in Hutchinson.
Brandon Neel and Pedro Konofino also return for the Texans. Neel started 17 games during the 2012-13 season but sat out last season due to injury.
Though the Texans have only four returners they are a sophomore-laden team with only three freshman on the roster.
The Texans will begin their season in Plano Nov. 1-2 where they will face Weatherford at 10 a.m. Saturday and Trinity Valley 12 p.m. Sunday.
South Plains will play at home for the first time when they host the Texan Classic Nov. 7-8.
