The victory moves the Texans to 2-1 on the season.

South Plains and Coastal Bend participated in a low scoring first half in a 26-19 halftime score.  The Texans led by as many as 11 with three minutes to go but the Cougars were able to close to within seven by the break.

The Texans began the second half with an 8-2 run that pushed their advantage back to double digits and would lead by as many as 27 in the game before settling with the 20-point victory.

South Plains will next face Wayland Baptist University's JV squad at 2 p.m. Saturday in a game that will be broadcast live over the internet at www.spctexans.com.  Play-by-play will be provided by SPCTV.
