New Mexico Military upsets No. 17 South Plains College out of first place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference men's basketball standings, with their win over the Texans 74-71.
Adding the loss to the Texans record (20-6, 10-3) as well as Howard's (20-6, 11-2) win over Odessa, Feb. 16, 84-73, knocked the Texans down one seat in the WJCAC to second below Howard.
Emmanuel Omogbo came off the bench at the start of the game ready to go, leading the team with 30 points and 18 rebounds. Brandon Neel knocked in 11 points for the Texans along with Pat Birt's 10 points.
With more than half of the Texans games on the road these last two weeks of conference play set a battle for the Texans to overcome. Out of the Texans' six losses this season, five have come on the road, away from the Texan Dome.
Texans will pick back up with the Lady Texans traveling to Frank Phillips Thursday, Feb. 19. Lady Texans game will begin at 5:45 p.m and the men's will immediately follow. Games will be streamed live at spctexans.com.
