Tairu Named to NJCAA All-American Team
LEVELLAND, Texas - South Plains College basketball player David Tairu has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association's All-American 3rd team.

In the 2008-2009 season Tairu averaged 17.5 points-per-game and helped lead the Texans to an overall record of 27-4, a runner-up finish in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, and a berth to the Region 5 Championship game.  He had a season high of 29 points on February 5 versus Clarendon College and was voted Most Valuable Player in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, a conference many would argue is the premier league in the NJCAA.

"This is a well deserved honor for David, who has had a tremendous career here.  He is as good of a person and player South Plains College has ever had," says SPC head coach Steve Green.
