Maria Gutierrez is in her first year as an assistant athletic trainer at South Plains College. 

Gutierrez comes to Levelland after serving as an assistant athletic trainer at Seward County Community College. Prior to her stint in Kansas, Gutierrez served as a graduate athletic trainer at Estacado High School, Lubbock Cooper High School, and for the Texas Tech University soccer program. 

Gutierrez received her bachelor's in biology, as well as a bachelor's in psychology from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 2020. Gutierrez would then earn her master's in athletic training from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2022.
